In ancient Egypt, there was a ritual to honor Sun God RA. It was held 3 times a day: at sunrise Frankincense resin was burnt, at the peak of Sun’s zenith -myrrh resin, and at the sunset a 16 ingredients mixture called Kyphi was burnt. These incenses were used not only to worship gods but also to improve sleep, to eliminate anxiety, to cleanse, to fill the air with fragrances and as a cure for a lot of ailments.
The Sun God RA symbolizes spiritual light, life, warmth and growth. In Egyptian mythology he was held as the Creator of the Universe and the giver of Life.
The preparations for creating Kyphi incense begins when the moon is in New Moon position, raisins and dates are soaked in homemade wine. Selected holy resins, woods, herbs, spices are ground and mixed all together. Then, when the moon is at Full Moon position, at sunrise at the time of prayers the process of creation of Kyphi begins. While the homemade wine and honey is simmering at low heat all the prepared and mixed ingredients are combined all together. The process continues until the mixture gets hard enough to make disk shape Kyphi incense.
We recommend to put Kyphi discs on already slightly cooled charcoal discs or use more foil as to not burn the incense too fast, the more slowly the incense burns the more fragrances it will release.
One box – 10 pcs. (about 18 g) of Kyphi discs.
